Finally back in the land of the blogging!

Wow, what a hectic start to the year it’s been! Premier’s Reading Challenge is up and running, with several students already finished and Mrs Ellidge’s Year 1’s the first group to finish. We’ve loved receiving our postcards from students of where they ‘escape with a book’ as they complete the challenge.

Our first Book Club will be on Friday of Week 10 (7th April) at 7.45am in the library. Those who have registered for the club will receive an email shortly. If you haven’t registered but would like to be involved, please either comment on the blog or email Simone (Simone.petherick915@schools.sa.edu.au) to secure your space -we’re almost full! Our first book will be ‘Rat Burger’ by David Williams. It has been challenging to select a title for a wide range of ages, however the warmth and humour of David Walliam’s writing will keep us all entertained. The response is quite open for this club. As the main character Zoe has a pet rat, I thought it would be great for the kids to design and make an enclosure for their favourite pet (real or imagined, whatever they like!) As has been the case in the past, the kids have complete freedom to respond using any materials or way they would most enjoy (I.e, diorama, picture, model, painting…)

Unfortunately we don’t have multiple copies of this title for you to loan, however, the book is available on our digital platform Wheelers, in our library (currently on loan), public libraries or you can buy your own copy at BigW for $10.00

Happy reading,
Simone

  1. Thanks Simone
do you have any spare copies Ratsburger for Thomas Anderson to loan? He is in the library today. Also, if he wanted to borrow a book that is above his reading level is it still possible to borrow as he could get his parents to read it. He was after a Goosebumps or Captian Underpants book. Could the borrowing go to 2 books instead of 1. Thank you and hopefully see you in the library.

    • Hi there! Sorry I missed this comment today. Our library only has 1 copy which is out on loan I’m sorry. Have you tried the public library? Simone
