OUR GIFT TO YOU TO CELEBRATE BOOK WEEK

To celebrate Book Week we are excited to announce that we are trialling audio books on our eBook platform until the end of September.  If there is a positive response we will invest in this feature for our reading community.  There are numerous benefits of listening to audio books including language and vocabulary development, exposure to sophisticated plots and language features that may be beyond a child’s individual abilities and exposing children to readers with  fluency and great expression.  It’s also a wonderful way to nurture a love of reading.  All you need to do is logon with your current username and password @  https://clgp.wheelers.co    (User name = Firstname.Surname :  Password = Library1)

Please email Simone @ simone.petherick915@schools.sa.edu.au or comment on our blog  if you’d like to see this continue or with your feedback .

Happy listening and happy (nearly) Book Week!

Breakfast Book Club

We had a fabulous time celebrating our love of reading this morning, however we all agreed (except Charlotte) that A Wrinkle in Time was definitely NOT on our favourite book list!

We were warm and cosy inside while the rain bucked down outside.

Our next book club is going to be a little different.  Instead of choosing a book, Sara suggested we choose a theme (thanks for the great idea!).  So, next time we meet we will all bring a book that has has a magical theme – and we’ll all create something magical to share.

I look forward to seeing you all then.  I didn’t announce the date this morning, but I think we should keep the tradition of meeting on the Friday of Book Week.  So our next meeting will be that the Friday of Week 5, Term 3 (24th August).

Until then – happy reading!

Simone

Premier’s Reading Challenge

We are so proud of our Reading Treasures who have completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge.

Each year we create a display linked to the Book Week theme. This year’s whole school PRC display is a tropical island as the 2018 theme is “Find Your Treasure” – our readers are our treasures!  When a student completes the Challenge we take a Polaroid picture of them and add them to our display.  Our board is filling up fast!

OUR BOOK FAIR IS HERE!

MONDAY 28TH & TUESDAY 29TH MAY

SALES 8.00AM – 6.00PM

So many books, so little time.

Please remember there is no pressure to buy, however if you do wish to participate in our fair, we thank you for your support and recognise the generous contribution you are making to our school and library.

It’s a good time to love reading!

We’re very excited about this upcoming event.  We’re looking forward to our community of readers congregating in Langley Hall @ 10.35 on Wednesday 23rd May to enjoy this fabulous book.

We’re also very excited about the arrival of our books  for the annual Book Fair.  Classes will be invited to preview the books and merchandise for sale on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th May.  Books will be on sale in the Library from 8.00am – 6.00pm Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th May.  You can order online and bring in a receipt, or pay with cash or EFTPOS on the day.

There is absolutely no pressure to purchase anything from the book fair, however, should you choose to do so, every dollar spent will benefit our library.

The Library will be closed for borrowing from Wednesday 23rd-Tuesday 29th May.  Our readers can borrow from our Pop-Up Libraries, R-2 can read on the Oxford Owl Platform and our 3-7 can access our Literacy Pro digital library 24/7.

In addition, each CLG reader has a subscription to our digital library, Wheelers eBooks.  (See infographic below.  Click on the image to enlarge).

Happy reading!

WELCOME BACK

Welcome back!  I hope you enjoyed a fabulous break and managed to read for pleasure.  I know I certainly enjoyed savoring some lazy afternoons with some beautiful books.

Thank you to everyone who attended the first Book Club of the year on the last Friday of school.  We enjoyed sharing our reading experience and love of the book  Wonder.

Scholastic Book Club brochures will go home today, with orders due on Friday 11th May.  As always there is absolutely no pressure to purchase from the catalogue, but feel free to do so as every dollar spent supports our school library.

Our annual Book Fair is just around the corner, so keep May 28 and 29 free to support our major fundraiser.

It’s been fantastic to see so many children complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge already – keep up the great work everyone.

Happy reading!

Simone
